M. I. A.- Part 1

Missing in action from blogging? Yep that's me. I'm going to try to get caught up but it will take a few posts before that happens. These pictures are from this past weekend and believe it or not, there are even some pictures missing. After A#3's final soccer game we headed over to my mom's house for our 2Nd annual "punkin carvin". Mom fixed her famous crock pot hot dogs and chili and then we all headed out to the garage. This picture is of me and A#3 and we are carving out the bottom of her pumpkin so we can scoop all of the guts out.
Mom and A#2 working away.
Hubby was down on the floor helping out with the scooping.
And as you can see Foster-man was a pro at it. A#3, not so much.
She would not touch it and he could not keep his hands out of it.
A#2 with her finished project. She did a great job!!
A#3 with hers.
Mom and A#3 started on another one.
And then there was the artistic side of our family. My sister and her hubby were still working on theirs.
These are some of them all finished up. The one in front is my BIL's. It is a Frankenstein that he free handed. Nice job!
But hands down the winner for this year was hubby himself. This is his sitting on top of one of mom's landscape lights. It is not carved, it was chiseled so that is flesh that you see the light coming thru. Good job Honey!!!!! You win! He even has your eyebrows ;)

Early Saturday morning we headed to LU for Family Weekend to see A#1. We were just staying for the day instead of the whole weekend like we did last year. while we went into the Aviation Dept we were on a mission to find A#1's shirt tale from his first solo flight back in August. We found it!!!

Yes it's posed picture but I like it! way to go A-man!!! You ROCK!
We hung out in the flight ready room for a while and A#1 gave us a few lessons.
Outside on one of the courtyards there were some sculptures from students in the art department. This one was about praying the scriptures. You can't see it but it is covered in scripture verses.
Another sculpture with a few kiddos hanging around it.
After we went to the football game, LU beat Presbyterian 55-19, we headed over to Thomas Road Baptist for a HUGE kids carnival for Halloween. A#3 did not want to put her costume on because she was so hot already but A#2 decked out and she looked adorable!!
Inside the carnival were games and bouncy houses and lots of goodies. They had a great time and it was just nice to be with A#1.
There was a very tall slide that the girls were so anxious to go down. Can you tell that they are looking up to see how far they have to climb?
A#2 came down head first, of course.
So proud of this son of ours!
And so are his sisters. I love this picture!!!
Well, I'll be back, lots more to catch up on.

Sept.... so far

I'm not sure I can even tell you just how busy we have been around here but I'll give it a start. This cute bucket was for a good friend of ours that is 12 and just had to have a major knee surgery. After I personalized it, me and the girls filled it with lots of goodies and ran it by for a quick visit to drop it off. I have heard that the Starbursts were his fave ;)

And then AWANA started back in full swing. The girls had so much fun at the kickoff party. There was lots of jumping and lots of goodies. This is A#3 waiting in line for her turn in the bouncy house.

A#2 and one of her good buddies waiting for their turn.

A#2 inside the bouncer.

A#3 has a special place in her heart for her Great Aunt Sissy. I caught the 2 of them in a conversation during the party. I love this picture. By the way, A#3's hair is like that because that is the sweatiest child you will ever meet.
And then there is soccer. A new adventure for A#3 and a returning one for A#2. A#3 has been so excited that she lives in her soccer clothes ALL WEEKEND!! I kid you not. On this day she had a friend over, or should I say a "boyfriend", and she had to put her soccer clothes on before he left so she could show him. He looks impressed don't you think?
And there she goes. She has scored at every game so far and the pure joy that she has so far has just been a blast to watch.

The best thing to her is that her Daddy is her coach. HE LOVES IT!!!! And they love him!

There he is with his team.

How do you keep 3 and 4 year old occupied for an hour? I have no idea but so far he is doing a great job.
After A#3's first game we headed downtown for a Hokie tailgate. Turns out the best thing for our family was the fact that there were firetrucks there!!! She still has a thing for them.

Hubby is the assistant coach for A#2 and they have the best team. It has been 2 full years since she played and she is doing fantastic. She even made the first goal of the season! A great bunch of girls and a wonderful coach.

The Green Goblins (aka the Green Boogers!)

She is doing such a great job! She is also still taking riding lessons and very active in her Girl Scouts and of course AWANA again.
Victory at their first game!!
Following the first game there was our first fundraiser at the local ice cream shop, Gardners. YUMMO!

On top of all the hustle and bustle I had to get a new do. My hair is still recovering from the weight loss and falling out so I had to go a little shorter than usual. Thanks to my sister/stylist for the cute do!!

BOO!

1. What is your favorite thing about Halloween? When I was little obviously trick-or-treating. Now, decorating for Halloween.
2. What is your favorite Halloween tradition? When I was little it was going to the little old sisters house for homemade popcorn balls.
3. What was your favorite all-time costume from childhood or adulthood? I was a princess one year for our Brownie party. I loved the tiara!
4. Scary Halloween decorations or cutesy? Cutesy. My kids are still young and I don't want to scare them too badly.
5. What is your favorite Halloween memory? The fact that we would trick-or-treat all night long and fill up huge pillowcases full of candy. We ate it as we went along. We didn't have to worry about the fact that it might have been tampered with.
6. What is your favorite scary movie? None. I hate scary movies. I scare myself and will think about it for weeks after I have seen it. Right A#1?
7. Candy Corn...Love it or Hate it? Hate it but the family loves it. That's some candy I will buy lots of because I know I will not eat it! I do love candy corn decorations though.
8. What was your favorite Halloween party activity? Remember that Brownie party, one year we had to walk thru the kitchen blindfolded and stick our hands in all the ooey, gooey stuff and guess what it was. Eyeballs= Olives etc.
9. What is your least favorite Halloween party activity? Bobbing for apples...does anyone still do that?
10. Painted pumpkins or carved? Well carving of course!
Tag you're it! Hope you play along.
